How much does Reddit earn from your data?

Reddit is the collection's fastest repricer: Q4 2025 global revenue per user hit $5.98 a quarter, up 42% in a year, and Q2 2026 revenue was guided to roughly $720 million a quarter. And it runs a second trade no other entry here has — licensing two decades of user conversation to AI companies as training data.

How Reddit turns you into revenue

Line one is conventional: ads targeted by the communities you join and the threads you read — subreddit membership is an unusually honest interest declaration, and advertisers pay for it. US users run roughly twice the global average in Reddit's reported split, which is where the derived band above comes from.

Trade two is unique in this collection. Reddit's data-licensing agreements (including a reported ~$60M-a-year deal with Google) sell archived posts and comments as AI training corpus. If you've written on Reddit since 2005, your words are in the inventory. It's the clearest case yet of a platform finding an entirely new market for the same user data decades after it was contributed, and a reason this entry keeps repricing upward.

What the price is built on

  • Subreddit memberships — self-declared interests, the targeting core.
  • Reading, voting and commenting behavior across threads.
  • Search queries inside Reddit, increasingly a product-research destination.
  • The full public archive of your posts and comments — the AI-licensing asset.

Turn it down

Reddit privacy settings ↗ switch off ad personalization and activity-based targeting. Note what settings can't do: already-public posts remain in the archive that licensing covers — deleting content before it's crawled is the only lever, and an imperfect one. The full ranked plan is on the take-it-back page.
